Faith

So just what is faith? Interestingly enough the dictionary and the Bible do not agree on what faith is:

From the Webster's New World College Dictionary: it says the word faith comes from "fides, confidence, belief.... " Then it goes on to state:
"1. Unquestioning belief that does not require proof or evidence." (How can one have confidence without evidence? Very contradictory.)

From the Bible: Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things not seen."

Obviously the Bible says faith is substance and evidence not "blind." Which source shall we believe?

The Bible itself is a witness where "...precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little..." (Is 28:10). It also tells us that the mysteries of Yahweh are revealed from one person having the information to another not yet having it (I Cor 1:21) because that's the way He chose to do it. Further, we learn in Romans 1:19 & 20 we can know something "clearly" about Yahweh by the things that are made. Then in Is 8:20 it emphatically states that "To the Law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."

Hebrews 11:6 further states that, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him (Yahweh): for he that cometh to Yahweh must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him." It is clear that the matter of having faith or not having faith is a very big part of a positive transaction between Yahweh and a person. You might ask, "So, where is all this evidence in the Bible?" Good question inasmuch as Christianity (all brands of it from Roman Catholic to all the Protestant doctrines) teachs that there really is no evidence for faith but rather that one must have BLIND faith: to accept the Savior on the authority of whomever we are listening to at any particular time. Of course, they all disagree greatly with each other, the various doctrines, about how we are to exhibit this blind faith so we are left to wonder, "What is the truth?" This very question is what Dr. Henry Clifford Kinley was pondering at length for two years before the vision and revelation was given to him to teach: it was a panoramic vision of the truth of what the gospel is and the witnesses for it in the Bible. He saw what Moses and John the Revelator both saw and was given understanding of it. This knowledge showed that the various doctrines and the disagreements among them didn't matter (they were all wrong) because there was evidence and proof right in the Bible and the creation itself for a person to gain an understanding of the truth of Yahweh's purpose, pattern, and plan but that it was a mystery which had to be revealed by one person who knows the mystery to another who will listen and learn it. The Biblical and creation proofs are precisely why Yahweh is able to judge us in righteousness: He provided proof so that we are without excuse! Understanding is a gift, however, some can hear the correlations that give rise to the evidence and proof and yet not see the truth in them and thus fail to acquire faith. Others are allowed to hear them and see them as truth simply because the Holy Spirit imparts the understanding and knowledge in the minds and hearts of those who were predestined to recognize the truth when they hear it. Understanding cannot be bought or earned, it is a gift: grace. Faith comes from the Holy Spirit's intercession in our hearts and minds. Faith is the work of Elohim (John 6:29).

We are trained to think we should not require evidence to have faith, that it cannot be had and that we would be wrong to ask for it! Yet we are expected to have it! In reality Yahweh does not require us to have faith without the evidence that He gave us abundantly both in the Bible and in the creation itself. Only the so-called "theological experts" will refuse to give Scripture and evidence for what they teach and then say, "Come up and give your heart to Jesus!" Dr. Henry Clifford Kinley was given a vision and a revelation in 1931 which was the sounding of the 7th angel spoken of in Hab 2:2 and Rev 10:7, which has always been the way Yahweh speaks to a man (Num 12:6). Yahweh showed Dr. Kinley the evidence and keys for understanding how the Bible is a witness to Yahshua the Messiah and Yahweh's purpose. One of the biggest witnesses that provides evidence is the Tabernacle Pattern: a divine pattern of heavenly things (Heb 8:5) that had to be structured exactly as Yahweh Elohim gave it to Moses (Ex 24:8 & 9, 40). The Tabernacle Pattern ia a key to prove Who that was that died on that cross, what He did it for, and where knowledge of the Scriptures will take us ultimately and that's to the Most Holy Place or heaven (Ex 25:8 & 9, 40; Heb 8:5).

Here a little and there a little, we begin to learn that we can know something, "clearly" (Rom 1:20), about Yahweh and that someone teaching us better be coming from the "Law and the Testimony" (Is 8:20) or there is no light in them! So, it's not enough to just read the New Testament or listen to preachers who never go near the Old Testament. It is required to go to the Law and the Testimony: the Law is the first 5 books that Moses wrote (Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Leviticus, Deuteronomy) and the Testimony or the prophets is the rest of the books of the Old Testatment. These are the "Scriptures" from which Yahshua himself taught (Luke24:25,27,44). There was no New Testament then, so obviously when He spoke of Scriptures He was talking about the Law and the Testimony or as they are often called, the Law and the Prophets (L & P).

Learning the prophecies and institutions that are in the L & P and then seeing the fulfillment of them by Yahshua as evidenced in the histories and letters that make up the New Testatment is where we get our evidence!

  • 1 Do you know why and what Yahshua wrote in the sand twice while He was preventing Mary Magdalene from being stoned? (John 8:6-8)
  • 2 Do you know why Yahshua walked on the water? (Mat 14:26; Mark 6:49; John 6:19)
  • 3 Do you know why He called Himself the door and the light ? (John 10:9; John 8:12)
  • 4 After He resurrected do you know why He fed several Apostles and disciples fish as reported in John 21?
  • 5 Do you know why He said His body was the living bread from heaven? (John 6:51)
See below for the brief answers to these questions. Many other questions are answered when one becomes aware, knows about, Yahshua's INSTITUTION of the creation and the laws of the Old Covenant (Mosaic Law) and His mission of FULFILLMENT (Matt 3:15, 5:17; Luke 24:25,27,44) when He came, again, in a physical body ultimately to die for the sins of the world thus fulfilling the old covenant and setting it aside (Col 2:14) by nailing it to His cross after being the only Israelite to keep it perfectly (it was never given to the Gentiles or Nations to keep).

BRIEF ANSWERS:

  • 1 Because Yahshua is the Holy Spirit in a physical body and as Yahweh Elohim He had written something before, twice, when He instituted the 10 Commandments by first speaking them to Israel and later by writing them, twice, in tables of stone with His own finger. As Yahshua the Messiah He fulfilled what He wrote before for Moses when He wrote them again, twice, in the sand which would be blown away or walked on and become indistinguishable after which He told Mary to "...go and sin no more." By virtue of His death, burial and resurrection he was "Blotting out the handwritinig of ordinances that was againt us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross;" (Col 2:14). The new covenant is interior (in hearts and minds) not exterior like the old one (on garments or stones and in physical works) as prophesied in Jer 31:31.
  • 2 Because Yahshua is the Holy Spirit (John 14:26) and He was thus fulfilling the institution of walking upon the waters which He did right after the world was formed as noted in Genesis 1:2.
  • 3 Because as the Messiah He performed all the functions of the Tabernacle and to get through the door into the Holy Place where we are told to stand (spiritually speaking Mat 24:15) we must first receive the Holy Spirit which requires faith (which comes with knowledge from evidence: Heb 11:1) in Him. Then once through Him, the door, we are inside the Holy Place where we are safe, spiritually speaking, because we have His light of life (John 1:4).
  • 4 Because he was overturning Jonah's three day burial in a giant fish (Jonah 1:17) by burying the fish inside of Himself and His disciples. Part of this was a fulfillment because Peter also swallowed the fish and he was a descendant of Jonah (Peter's name had been Simon bar Jonah). Hence the sign of a fish is really one of burial and death rather than faith and life as Christians seem to think it is.
  • 5 Because once He returned to the Most Holy Place (the third heaven) or ascended (Acts 1:9) He broke up His spiritual body and poured it out on mankind so that should a person believe on Him and His mission he/she would be able to receive His Holy Spirit which is what nourishes believers (spiritually speaking) in the Holy Place where we are told to stand the OT types for which are the 12 loaves of shewbread in the Holy Place of the Tabernacle that nourished the priests physically and the miraculous mana that rained down to feed the Israelites physcially when they were in the wilderness.
There are many, many things to know: a good example is that knowing what went on in Ex 12 during the first Passover in combination with knowing about the blood, water, and spirit in the Court Round About in the Tabernacle Pattern attested to by I John 5:8, and also seeing the beginning of Yahshua's fulfillment of it in John 1:29 and knowing "...how that Yahshua died for our sins according to the Scriptures" (I Cor 15:3) will almost by itself convince you that Yahshua is the Saviour! For more about this topic which involves the sacrifice of a lamb at the first Passover and the four points of blood in the Tabernacle Pattern as well as other fulfillments click here. The Scriptures (the L & P) are literally HOW we can know which one of those people who claimed to be the "Messiah" was the right one and then by that knowledge we will receive faith which is a gift and is necessary for eternal life (John 17:3).

Once knowledge of the evidence is acquired, what is the test of whether or not someone actually has faith? First of all someone who really has faith will have received the Holy Spirit and will exhibit fruits of the spirit such as: "...love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no penalty." (Gal 5:22-23) Paul tells us that we are all books that can be read by any man, "...written by the spirit" (II Cor 3:3). He also tells us that Holy Spirit-filled persons "...have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty...commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of Elohim" (II Cor 4:2). Once receiving the Holy Spirit we become part of the Unity of the Spirit (Deu 6:4), in unity with Yahweh, doing His will without effort and part of the eternal and glorious spiritual body of Yahshua the Messiah. Moreover, although we cannot get faith through works, other than by simply listening and Yahweh willing, hearing, once we have faith it would be dead without works of charity or love (James 2:14-20).
